Star Odyssey
Ch-3714: The True Memory Fist
"A green lotus leaf?" Lu Yin's expression turned grave.
Old Chief and the others heard that as well. A lotus leaf?
They did not know what that meant, but Lu Yin did.
There were currently three Greater Sancti in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse: Awe Gate, Blood Tower, and Green Lotus.
Lu Yin had first encountered the power of Blood Tower via Feng Bo, and he had also seen Jiu Xian use Awe Gate’s power. Luo Ning had also just used Awe Gate’s power. As for Green Lotus...
For some unknown reason, Lu Yin immediately thought of the massive figure that he had seen on the Day of Offering.
The mention of a green lotus leaf even caused the High Seraph to look over.
He might be able to ignore anyone else from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, but he could not disregard the Greater Sancti.
The three Greater Sancti possessed invincible power.
Luo Ning continued to say, “We came here on a green lotus leaf. It drifted from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse to this Willbound Spire, and we will also use it to return home.”
“If the Nine Odysseys Megaverse is above the Spirit Nidus, then how long does it take to reach this place on a lotus leaf?” Lu Yin asked.
Luo Ning glanced over. “One year.”
Lu Yin’s eyes flickered. That was twenty times faster than using a springboard.
Beacon City sat between the three megaverses, but it took ten years to reach any of them when using the large springboard there. If the Nine Odysseys Megaverse really was directly above the Spirit Nidus, then it should take them at least twenty years to travel from the Spirit Nidus to the Consciousness Megaverse, which was how long it had taken the battleships to make the journey. Despite that, the green lotus leaf had completed the journey in just one year.
How could it move so fast? How was it even faster than a springboard? That should be impossible.
Lu Yin estimated that even an Immortal might not be able to surpass the speed achieved with a springboard. springboards borrowed the power of the omniverse, so it simply made no sense for anything to be able to travel twenty times faster than something launched from a springboard.
Could Immortals truly be that powerful?
"Where is that lotus leaf?" Lu Yin asked.
Luo Ning looked to the far side of the cliff. Lu Yin and the others had reached the top of the cliff precisely halfway between where the people from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had arrived and where they were currently standing. They needed to retreat to reach the lotus leaf.
"You want that green lotus leaf? I would suggest that you drop the idea."
Lu Yin stared at Luo Ning, prompting the young man to explain, “That leaf is the power of Greater Sancte Green Lotus. We simply rode upon it. No one knows the full extent of its abilities. It’s not out of the question for it to be capable of destroying this entire megaverse.”
That comment shook Old Chief and the other conscients, and they all nervously looked at Lu Yin.
Luo Ning had made a valid point. The Consciousness Megaverse was already in enough trouble with someone as powerful as the High Seraph targeting it. If they also offended an Immortal, no one could predict the consequences.
Given the power of an Immortal, it would not be difficult for one to destroy the Consciousness Megaverse, even if one doing so was extremely unlikely.
"Why warn me?" Lu Yin asked in surprise.
Luo Ning replied in a low voice, "Because I'm afraid of being dragged down with you before you die."
Lu Yin looked back at where the green lotus leaf waited. He genuinely wanted to experience the power of Greater Sancte Green Lotus.𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Master Qing Cao's ability to negate all powers of the megaverse had left a deep impression on Lu Yin. The Immortal had induced far greater despair than the High Seraph ever had. Did Greater Sancte Green Lotus possess a similar level of power, or were they possibly even stronger?
The figure that Lu Yin had seen on the Day of Offering had already left a shadow in his heart.
In the end, Lu Yin held back from attempting to interact with the leaf, which caused both Luo Ning and Old Chief to breathe sighs of relief.
Lu Yin imprisoned Luo Ning in the Champions' Stage Purgatory, deciding to let the young man suffer for a bit.
The man was brave enough to entrust his life to Lu Yin, which indicated that he did not fear death. In that case, what did Luo Ning fear? Lu Yin would let him have a taste of true agony. Doing so would facilitate future interrogations.
Also, there was the woman called Lian Shuang.
Lu Yin looked at her and decided to capture her as well.
Old Chief and the Luminaries had wanted to capture Lian Shuang, but Lu Yin was closer to her. They had already fought a lot and did not want to reengage open hostilities. With that, Lu Yin collected the woman without issue.
On the opposite side of the cliff, the other group had already withdrawn, everyone vanishing from sight. Not one of them dared to return to the cliff top.
Finally, there was only the High Seraph, Yong Heng, Lu Yin, and the Luminaries remaining atop the cliff.
All of them shared the same goal: the palace.
Everyone present was on the same side of the cliff. A chaotic battle could break out at any moment, which made it impossible for anyone to approach the palace in peace. However, leaving was even less of an option.
The High Seraph would not have minded moving to the other side of the cliff, but Yong Heng and the others would never allow the man to leave.
If he left, how would they get back down?
Not one of them dared to touch the green lotus leaf. They could not travel to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, nor were they able to return to the bottom of the cliff. They would be left to die atop the cliff, though it was certain that someone from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse would eventually arrive.
It might even be a Lesser Sancte.
Silence reigned atop the cliff as everyone slowly moved toward the palace, having tacitly reached an agreement. Each one silently endured the growing pressure of the memories.
There was a balance between the different groups. While no one openly said it, none of them would casually attack the others. Still, hesitation was not the same as being unwilling to attack.
It might have been fear of having the others unite against them or possibly something else, but everyone continued moving towards the palace at the same pace.
The standoff continued for quite some time.
Lu Yin restrained his pace to match the others. The pressure from the memories was not strong enough to force him to his current pace, at least not yet. Even the High Seraph was advancing slowly, so naturally, Lu Yin would not do anything to stand out.
Time passed without, and neither Lu Yin nor any of the others were able to determine how long they had been on top of the cliff for. The memories that they were subjected to felt both real and illusory, and their minds were blurred to the point where they were no longer able to recognize one from the other.
As time passed, Old Chief had taken the lead, and he was a full ten meters ahead of anyone else.
The High Seraph was the closest behind Old Chief, followed by Yong Heng. Lu Yin and Shuangdao were side by side, and Xi Wen, Lan Huifeng, and Gui Shaoqing were further back.
It was no surprise that Old Chief moved faster than everyone else. To begin with, he was a conscient, and he had visited the Willbound Spire countless times. His memories far exceeded those of anyone else present. While Lu Yin had Possessed many individuals with his die’s ability, he was still unable to compare to Old Chief or anyone else of a similar age.
Every last one of the Thirteen Luminaries had endured the pressure of foreign memories many more times than Lu Yin.
He was able to keep pace with Shuangdao not only due to his previous experiences in accessing others’ memories, but also because of just how powerful Lu Yin’s consciousness was, along with a few other contributing factors.
With how far ahead Old Chief had moved, did he not fear the others uniting to attack him?
Lu Yin stared at Old Chief’s back, and the conscient seemed to sense the attention, as he glanced back. Their eyes met, and Old Chief offered a kindly smile. He did not want to offend anyone at this moment.
Lu Yin responded with a small smile of his own before looking away and continuing to move forward.
What would it feel like if memories one day took on a physical form, and you could feel their weight bearing down on you? Lu Yin was living that very experience.
Grabbing a tighter hold of his memory string was like trying to use strength within a dream; no matter how badly one wanted to, it was impossible. A person could not discern between their dream from reality, and after waking, they would remember nothing.
If Lu Yin was truly dealing with the power of dreams, he would not fear it. Unfortunately, this merely had a sensation of being dreamlike. There was no connection to actual dreams.
With one more step forward, everything changed. Lu Yin suddenly saw stars retreating from him as a dark, deep universe consumed everything: stars, creatures, mainlands. Everything that Lu Yin saw was being pulled forward, as though a giant hand had grabbed the megaverse and clenched a fist. Space and time were both being erased.
An instant arrived where a flash of white light swept past. An infinite cosmos surged back out with stars shooting by.
The megaverse had been reset.
Those words even appeared in Lu Yin’s mind: the megaverse is reset. How was he seeing this scene?
He had not seen any images of the past while subjected to the pressure of the memories. According to the people that Lu Yin had captured, he had learned that it was possible for the pressure of the memories to induce visions, but he had not expected to suddenly be subjected to one. He certainly had not anticipated seeing something as shocking as a megaverse resetting.
He was seeing a memory, but why did it feel so real?
A meteorite crashed towards him, and Lu Yin watched on while casually flicking it aside. Space warped, and the meteorite shattered.
Had Lu Yin moved, or had someone else? He did not know. Was he himself at this moment, or was this nothing more than a memory within a memory?
At that moment, he saw a raging river surge past him.
Was that the River of Aeons?
Above the river, he saw shadows drifting upstream, pushing against the torrent. He could not tell if those shadows were creatures or humans, as their forms were too unclear. At the head of the river, Lu Yin could just barely make out a swaying tree.
He wanted to see it better, to see it with greater clarity. The scene felt oddly familiar.
His vision suddenly blurred, and the universe twisted as what felt like a violent gale blasted towards him. Lu Yin did not know what it was, but he managed to dodge by pure instinct.
Atop the cliff, the gust of wind swept past him, striking the void and creating ripples that spread out.
Old Chief, Yong Heng, and the others stared in shock at the place where Lu Yin had just been standing. That location had been attacked, but Lu Yin had barely avoided the attack. The High Seraph was the one who had struck.
Lu Yin reappeared a bit more than ten meters away from where he had been standing. His eyes regained focus, and he slowly turned his head to look at the High Seraph. He was shaken, as he had very nearly been hit.
Had that blow landed, Lu Yin was certain that he would have been swept off the top of the cliff.
While the attack had appeared to be nothing more than a gust of wind, he was well aware that it was actually the same Everlasting Will with the power of time that had carried everyone to the top of the cliff. The High Seraph had undoubtedly used the power of time in his attack, as he had intended to knock Lu Yin down the cliff.
The attack had not been powerful enough to cause any harm, but it would have been impossible for Lu Yin to return to the top of the cliff.
“Memory Shock—also known as the True Memory Fist—what did you see?” Yong Heng asked, curiosity bright in his eyes as he watched Lu Yin.
True God had also managed to capture someone from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and while he had only captured a single person, he had still managed to obtain a bit of information.
As people approached the palace and were subjected to the pressure of the memories, it became possible for them to see various visions. The scenes that were witnessed were of immense value.
The Nine Odysseys Megaverse had repeatedly sent people to try to approach the palace, but not because people truly believed that they could enter the palace. Even the Lesser Sancti could not reach the palace, or even the Greater Sancti. The palace was even able to repel Immortals. The Greater Sancti had tried, only to find that forcing things would destabilize the entire place.
People from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse visited the cliff top in order to witness certain memories. Some memories carried tremendous value, and returning with them could allow one to earn great merit. Other memories might offer enlightenment, insights regarding cultivation, or even battle techniques and cultivation arts.
Everyone had spent a great deal of time approaching the palace without anyone seeing any visions. They had only been enduring the pressure of memories this whole time. With Lu Yin suddenly seeing something, everyone wanted to know what it had been.
Lu Yin glared at the High Seraph. “Mo Shang, you really are despicable, attacking while I was stunned by Memory Shock.”
The High Seraph did not bat an eye or say a single word.
Lu Yin then turned to Yong Heng. “Be careful and don’t let him ambush you. I managed to dodge, but you might not.”
Lu Yin had only succeeded in avoiding the attack with the wooden wing. He had used it out of pure instinct while still under the influence of the vision. Lu Yin had not even considered the possibility that the High Seraph could have been attacking him.
Yong Heng had similar instincts, but he did not have the wooden wing.
Yong Heng agreed with Lu Yin’s analysis and looked over at the High Seraph. “I need to keep a closer eye on you. Hopefully, you will also be struck by a Memory Shock.”
