Ch-3717: Swept Out
Emperor Slayer stood at the bottom of the cliff, cursing non-stop for five full hours. He only stopped when he ran out of words.
Yong Heng, Old Chief, and the Luminaries did not escape the beast’s wrath; everyone received a thorough verbal beating.
The High Seraph ended up suffering the worst. After Emperor Slayer was done cursing everyone else, he returned to give one final round to the High Seraph, as though offering a conclusion.
The High Seraph looked down at the beast as though staring at a corpse.
Exhausted, Emperor Slayer let out a long breath. “That’s enough for today. I’m stepping out to take a break. When I get back, we’ll continue. And stop looking at me like that! What? You think that I’m scared of you? If I’m scared, then I’m your grandson! Hahaha!”
With that, he left the Willbound Spire.
Go back? Like hell I will! That tirade had been Emperor Slayer’s swan song. He knew that he could no longer stay in either the Consciousness Megaverse or the Spirit Nidus. Staying in either place would only guarantee his death. He had already planned to make his way to the Tianyuan Megaverse.
While that megaverse was ruled by Lu Yin, no one knew if Lu Yin would even be able to return alive. Emperor Slayer had already planned his retreat: he would hide in the Tianyuan Megaverse and wait for it to be reset. After that, he would attempt to enter the Immortal realm. If he failed, then he would die. What of it? That idiot Emperor Wu had died before Emperor Slayer, and success would let him dominate the three megaverses. This would prove to be the greatest turning point in his life.
See you when I’m an Immortal!
Atop the cliff, Lu Yin’s eyes had grown cold. While he had not been cursed as soundly as the High Seraph, Emperor Slayer had still crossed a line.
He was a powerful Dukkhan, and yet he could curse so eloquently. Who could say just how many years the beast had been preparing for this tirade?
“What an amazing talent.” Lan Huifeng could not hold back a sigh.
Xi Wen gave a small smile. While the Luminaries had also been cursed, it had been an odd experience that had felt like a breath of fresh air.
The High Seraph was the most miserable of all, and his calmness was terrifying. If at all possible, he genuinely wanted to go down and kill that beast.
Suddenly, Emperor Slayer reappeared, causing everyone to look down. Back already? So soon?
They quickly realized that something was wrong. Emperor Slayer’s face had gone deathly pale. He looked as if he had just seen something terrifying.
“Hey, why did you come back?” Xi Wen asked.
Emperor Slayer looked up, clearly still in a daze. “Someone even scarier just arrived.”
Everyone grew puzzled. What did that mean?
Lu Yin's heart skipped a beat, and he suddenly had a bad premonition. If even Emperor Slayer was this afraid, then could Yue Ya have arrived?
He turned to look at the High Seraph, only to see the man’s expression had turned quite grim.
Below the cliff, Emperor Slayer silently counted the seconds. Suddenly his eyes snapped open and grew wide. It was time. He left the Willbound Spire, but before leaving, he glanced up at Lu Yin. “Kill Mo Shang. I believe in you.”
With that, Emperor Slayer vanished.
Everyone atop the cliff was stunned. Just what had the beast seen?
...
Six massive battleships were floating in outer space outside of the Willbound Expanse, hovering like enormous beasts. Upon closer inspection, one of the vessels looked misshapen, as though it had been struck by something powerful.
At this moment, the Origin Progenitor and the other experts from Boundless, as well as Su Shidao, Zi Tianshu, and everyone from the Spirit Nidus, were solemnly staring into the Willbound Expanse.
“Just what is that thing? Its strength is fluctuating, and while it doesn’t resemble a living creature, it also isn’t dead,” the Origin Progenitor commented.
Su Shidao nodded. “It looks like a meteorite, but there’s an eye in it. It’s utterly insane. I couldn’t stop it no matter what I did, and no attack affected it at all. You all were able to see it for yourselves just now.”𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Just a short time earlier, the meteorite had suddenly appeared and charged at the battleship that Zi Tianshu had been on. The Origin Progenitor had sensed the attack before it struck and had lashed out first, sending the meteorite flying. The rock had not put up even the slightest bit of resistance. The only noteworthy feature was that the meteorite had not been damaged by the Origin Progenitor’s attack.
This had confused the man, though Su Shidao had already warned everyone that a meteorite had destroyed his battleship.
That was why the Origin Progenitor had immediately attacked as soon as he noticed the meteorite.
The meteorite had not seemed capable of doing anything.
Su Shidao had been just as confused.
Then, the Origin Progenitor had deliberately chased after the meteorite in order to shatter it and learn what it actually was.
At that time, the meteorite had suddenly become terrifyingly powerful, to the point where not even the Origin Progenitor’s attacks had been able to stop it. All of the most powerful experts aboard Boundless, including even Shang Yi, had tried to stop the meteorite, but their efforts had all failed. It ultimately smashed into Zi Tianshu’s battleship before charging straight toward the Willbound Expanse.
Even when the Origin Progenitor attacked the meteorite with his Verdant Arsenal, he had failed to cause any damage. While everything was happening, Emperor Slayer had raced out of the hut, only to come face to face with the meteorite. He had been struck hard and had fled right back from where he had come.
Emperor Slayer’s sudden appearance had diverted the meteorite towards the hut, and it vanished soon after that.
The meteorite had entered the Willbound Spire.
Emperor Slayer had been carefully timing his second exit to ensure that he would not cross paths or be struck by the meteorite a second time.
“We need to warn Little Seven, or else he might suffer if he meets that thing in there,” Lu Tianyi said. “I’ll go right now.”
The Origin Progenitor stopped the other man. “We don’t have any idea what’s going on inside the Willbound Spire. The High Seraph is in there, and if you rashly charge in, you could end up just becoming a vulnerability for Pillar.”
“Send in some wandering corpses then,” Silver suggested, speaking up as he appeared from Boundless’s depths. He had been producing wandering corpses in secret.
The suggestion was tempting, as wandering corpses could be destroyed without much consequence.
“Send me with them,” Second Gu said as he stepped forward. “I’ll lead the wandering corpses inside. As long as Fifth Sister is around, I won’t die.”
The Origin Progenitor took out a few jade slips. “Give one to each wandering corpse. Pillar will recognize them and know what to do. Go, now.”
Second Gu rushed into the Willbound Expanse with more than a dozen other figures, all of whom quickly vanished into the hut.
Su Shidao and the others from the Spirit Nidus had no idea what wandering corpses were, but they had ceased being surprised by the endless tricks that the people aboard Boundless kept hidden.
At that moment, there was a tremendous change within the Willbound Spire.
Shortly after the meteorite entered the Willbound Spire, the cliff started to shake. A pillar of green light shot high into the sky, lighting up the entire area and shining down onto the stunned faces of Lu Yin and the others.
They saw a single green lotus leaf drifting from behind, and in the blink of an eye, it appeared above their heads.
The green light covered the sky, and those atop the cliff saw someone descending from high above them, unleashing an earth-shaking attack.
The Luminaries were the first to be blasted away.
The High Seraph countered with a finger that unleashed Everlasting Will.
Yong Heng’s divine energy violently erupted as he executed his Return of the Myriad Swords.
Lu Yin stared in stunned silence at the attack released by the falling figure. Is that the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm?
Boom!
Boom!
He heard two deafening impacts, and both the High Seraph and Yong Heng disappeared from the top of the cliff, leaving Lu Yin by himself.
He was not able to withstand the attack. Even when he unleashed his Wheel of Karma out of pure reflex, it was not enough. However, he knew who had released that attack.
It was someone that he had seen in the memories of the Willbound Spire, someone who had also comprehended karma. Lu Yin had watched the person grow from a young man to a middle aged man, and he had watched him unleash his Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, which was a truly terrifying technique. Then, Lu Yin had observed as the voice from the memories had lamented the loss of something beautiful.
Does the green lotus leaf belong to that person? Then was that man Greater Sancte Green Lotus?
Lu Yin also disappeared from the Willbound Spire. There was a flash of shifting light and shadow, and when his vision cleared, he was outside the hut. Everything had happened in less than a moment.
Everyone had been forcefully driven out of the Willbound Spire.
He had believed that only a few individuals had been within the Willbound Spire, but when everyone was driven out, there was quite a number. Are those wandering corpses? And Second Gu? And what is that stone?
The moment that Lu Yin emerged, the Origin Progenitor and the others on Boundless all saw him, and the Origin Progenitor immediately shouted out a warning.
Startled, Lu Yin whipped around to stare at the strange stone.
At that same moment, he felt a clash of consciousness nearby; the High Seraph had attacked Old Chief and the other conscients.
Everyone else had exited the Willbound Spire right before Lu Yin.
“Are you still not attacking? Destroy the Willbound Expanse!” the High Seraph roared.
Old Chief and the other conscients turned to look into the distance. Outside of the Willbound Expanse, the battleships were clearly visible, and each one of them was carrying at least one Dukkhan. It was highly likely that several of the Seven Seraphs were present.
While there were more Luminaries than Seraphs, unless the conscients possessed a unique method to utilize their consciousnesses, very few of the Luminaries were capable of defeating a Seraph. As cultivators became accustomed to dealing with consciousness attacks, it became typical for two or even three Luminaries to gang up on just one Seraph.
At the moment, five of the Thirteen Luminaries were present, but one of them, Gui Shaoqing, was already incapacitated. If the conscients were surrounded at this moment, they would be slaughtered for sure.
Everstone suppressed the entire Willbound Expanse, putting immense pressure on all of the conscients and making it impossible for any of them to escape.
With no other choice, Old Chief triggered the trap. “Bind the High Seraph first!”
As soon as he spoke, vast amounts of consciousness erupted in all corners of the Willbound Expanse and surged forth. It was not a single being attacking, but rather dozens of powerful conscients from all across the Consciousness Megaverse who were releasing their power in unison.
These conscients had but one purpose: to assist the Thirteen Luminaries to trap and kill the High Seraph.
This was the lethal trap that Old Chief and the other Luminaries had meticulously prepared for the High Seraph.
“Heaven and Earth Lock!” Old Chief growled. Invisible chains fell from the sky, and once again, the High Seraph felt a power that approached the Immortal realm. Consciousness, manifested thought, and every other form of power were all sealed. Beneath the tsunami of consciousness, the Heaven and Earth Lock was even stronger than the one that had been used at the bottom of the cliff in the Willbound Spire.
At the same time, people emerged from the void nearby, and each of them charged straight towards Yong Heng. They were led by none other than the Origin Progenitor.
“Yong Heng, it’s time we settled our score.”
Yong Heng frowned. What was going on? Naturally, he recognized the people approaching him, as he had seen them at the Immemorial Citadel, yet their auras were all different. Is that... the Nine Heavens Transformation? Can all of them use it? No, that isn’t just the Nine Heavens Transformation...
A golden cudgel slammed down as Sovereign Dou Sheng roared at the sky, his golden blood flowing. His skin dried and cracked as he used Extremes Must Be Reversed in combination with Triumphant Brawl. With the Nine Heavens Transformation added on top, the man unleashed a terrifying level of power that shook the entire Willbound Expanse.
Chu Yi’s Pillar of Heaven rose up, connecting the ground to the sky as he also underwent the Nine Heavens Transformation. His attack caused the stars themselves to sway and tremble.
Lu Tianyi, Wilderness God, the Megalith, and Pridebeast all used the Nine Heavens Transformation. Like titans descending from the heavens, they charged at Yong Heng while unleashing terrifying physical power.
At this moment, everyone was horrified by the sheer power that Boundless had unleashed.
Even the High Seraph was taken aback by the sight. How can all of them use the Nine Heavens Transformation? Is this a joke?
No one could understand how Boundless had exploded with such terrifying power.
Farther away, Yuan Qi held his Dao Bell. Yi Shang, Ce Wangtian, Mu Zhu, Luo Shan, Die Wu, and Tian Ya were all present as well.
It was at that moment that the High Seraph finally realized that, while he had ordered all of the battleships to attack the Thirteen Luminaries, Su Shidao and the others had never reacted. Something was clearly very wrong.
The one in the worst position at this moment was Yong Heng. He was being attacked by several opponents who were just as strong as the Seven Seraphs. This was something that he had never experienced even in the Spirit Nidus, yet he was facing it in the Consciousness Megaverse of all places. It was even his old enemies.
Dao Convergence.
Return of the Myriad Swords.
Dark-red divine energy filled the sky, looking like a sunset’s inverted rays that shone in the opposite direction that they should have. Countless sword images followed behind, slashing at all of the experts from Boundless.
On top of the people, the sword attack also enveloped the meteorite.
Lu Yin released his consciousness and his Nine Heavens in order to release Heaven’s Blade at Yong Heng.
Sequence particles surged around the man, diverting all the incoming attacks. His Dao of Heaven was impartial. A lantern rose into the sky: Natural Art.
Still, Heaven's Blade managed to open a line across Yong Heng’s arm, and it tore open, bleeding.
