Two days later, Rean was walking on the streets of Enrel City with Donfug when suddenly, Rean pointed out. "Senior Donfug, look! That’s truly a very big ship!"
Donfug looked in the direction Rean was pointing. There, you could see an airship making its way to the City Lord State. "Oh, that’s one of the City Lord’s private transport vehicles. However, judging by the emblem on the side, it is not the City Lord himself, though. It must be someone close related to him."
"Not him? Meh... Boring!" Rean said. He then ignored that and pointed somewhere else. It was another building on the other side of the city, almost as imposing as the City Lord State. "What is that place?" Rean asked, even though he already knew everything.
"Hehe!" Donfug didn’t mind and explained. "That is the Nosei Arena. There, you can fight to your heart’s content and bet on the fights as well. It is quite entertaining, so you can see many important experts going there to have some fun."
At that moment, Rean’s Soul Power reached Donfug, who immediately got an idea. "Now that I think about it, how about we go there and take a look as well? You have to understand what it means to fight, so that is a good chance to broaden your horizons. I want you to be my protector in the future, after all."
"Great!" Rean seemed excited. "I will definitely protect you, Senior Donfug. I will show you!"
Donfug patted Rean’s head, feeling content. It would obviously be much better to have Rean protect him out of his own volition than being forced by the Soul Binding Contract he made Rean sign. Donfug truly didn’t want to lose this last Level Ten Talent, after having lost all the others.
The Nosei arena was one of the biggest facilities in the city, with tens of arenas with various configurations. Thanks to the power of formations, even the environment could be changed to match several regions of the Divine Realm.
Arriving there, Donfug pulled out his CD and connected to the arena network. With his Werdlem ID, a private room was quickly prepared for him, where he could watch any arena he wanted through the formations. Quite a few of his sold slaves ended up battling here, so he liked to come and take a look now and then out of curiosity.
As Donfug and Rean walked through the corridors, Rean’s Divine Sense was spread, locked into a certain person not too far away. "Senior Donfug, I’m looking here that you can watch the fight by the arena’s side instead of the transmitted videos. It should feel even more realistic like that, right? Can we go watch one of them?"
Donfug was about to refuse, just for his mind to be changed again. The difference in cultivation truly made it easier to manipulate a person when they were presented with different choices. As long as the choices didn’t include something harmful, Rean could more or less make the person select that option.
Well, there was another reason why Donfug, especially, was so easy to manipulate. It was the fact that Donfug was trying to gain Rean’s trust to a deep level. Because of that, he was already inclined to do things Rean wanted, so Rean’s Soul Power just contributed to that factor. Otherwise, Donfug wouldn’t have been easy to manipulate to such an extent.
"Hum... perhaps you are right. That way, you can see what happens to those who lose. But... be aware that the participants might die in there. Are you okay to see that?" Donfug still asked, just to be sure.
"Yes!" Rean nodded with confidence. "If I’m going to protect Senior Donfug in the future, I will probably have to do it myself. I will not let anyone hurt Senior Donfug!"
"Hahaha!" Donfug was even more pleased. "Then let’s go take a look up close."
In the end, Donfug didn’t go to his private room, but went to one of the arenas, an arena that Rean selected himself.
There were seats all around the arena, and a battle was going on at that very moment. It’s just that the level of the fight was quite low, with two Nascent Soul Realm cultivators fighting. Judging by their attire, they must be from outside the city, like the tribe the twins’ group used. Because of that, most of the seats were empty. There was also the fact that it was midday, and the arena was a lot more crowded during the night.
Rean pretended to watch the fight with interest. Both sides were fairly matched and were also afraid of giving the other side any chances. Thus, this battle was bound to be a long one.
Yet, Rean’s attention was on two seats a few meters away from him and Donfug. Two people were watching the same battle at the moment, and surprisingly, one of the two was quite small, seemingly at the same age as Rean. Let’s not forget that Rean appeared to be no more than ten years old right now.
They were relatively inconspicuous, wearing some everyday clothes. Yet, Rean knew better. That kid was actually one of the City Lord’s four children, and the only one who was still a kid. The guy by the kid’s side was his protector, a Void Tempering Realm Expert who was hiding his cultivation.
Suddenly, Rean ran over to the kid, looking curious to see another kid like him.
"Ah, Rean!" Donfug quickly followed. "Sigh... kids..."
Rean arrived at that kid’s side in a few seconds. "Hey there! You came to watch the fight, too? It looks fun, right?!"
The kid narrowed his eyes and gave Rean a cold look.
"Sorry, friend," Donfug apologized to the man. He obviously didn’t notice anything.
The man slightly nodded. He wasn’t afraid of anything happening in this place anyway. "It’s okay."
Seeing the kid ignoring him, Rean insisted. "Hey, are you listening to me? Oh, shit!" Rean quickly turned to the man on the kid’s side. "Please, tell him later that I’m sorry. I didn’t know he was deaf."
The kid’s mouth twitched. "I can hear you, idiot. Leave me alone."
Rean showed a surprised expression. "So you can hear me! Why did you ignore me? That is disrespectful, right, Senior Donfug?"
Donfug didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Well, it is pretty unusual when someone approaches you like you did to him, too, Rean."
Rean didn’t seem to care. "Tch, forget it! He is probably afraid of me. I do look strong, after all."
The man by the kid’s sign began to scratch the back of his head after hearing that. ’Sigh... there we go...’
As for the kid... "Who the hell is afraid of you? Do you even know who I-"
’Young Master!’ his protector immediately stopped him. ’No one knows about this, so you can’t tell your name!’
The kid’s words stopped midway. "Get the fuck out of here, will you? Count yourself lucky that I’m letting you go that easily."
Seeing the two kids about to start a fight, Donfug quickly pulled Rean back. "Alright, Rean, that’s enough. You are bothering them. Let’s go watch the fight somewhere else."
Yet, just as Rean was being dragged away... "Hmph! Chicken!"
