Chapter 2205: Chapter 2205: Know… Know What?
But who else would believe the words of this General Ning besides himself?
“General Ning, were you raised drinking the northwest wind? Such big talk! The Yiinn Family in the Plant Plane—do they even still need to rely on someone like you? Are you pretending I don’t exist?”
“Liar, bad man.”
Little Nuonuo waved his tiny fists, continuing to target General Ning.
He really didn’t like this person. His mother would only talk and wouldn’t hold him anymore.
“Look, even a child doesn’t believe your words,” An Jiuyue said with a doting glance at her little baby before turning back to address General Ning.
General Ning clenched his teeth, fuming inside.
He had merely received the news that the Emperor of Beikun had been assassinated. But as for the identity of the killer, he still had no idea.
Now, looking at the woman in front of him, he suddenly wondered—had he missed something?
“Just who are you people, really?”
Even if they were from Wulong Mountain, it’s impossible they could so boldly assassinate the Emperor of Beikun and then prop someone up on the throne who had nothing to do with the Beikun Imperial Clan.
These people—what exactly were they depending on?
“Oh, so you really don’t know.”
An Jiuyue frowned slightly. She had spoken so much earlier, but it was all a waste of breath.
“Know… know what?”
General Ning instinctively asked, but what exactly was he supposed to know?
It was just a few people from Wulong Mountain. The Emperor of Beikun had inexplicably been outmaneuvered by them. He couldn’t believe it.
If not for his household guards failing miserably and not detecting these intruders sooner, he wouldn’t have ended up in such a humiliating, life-threatening predicament.
And that deputy of his—he’d sent him off to find help, but the man didn’t even dare try.
Even if he just shouted loudly once to the outside, the guards would surely hear. With that, they’d charge in, and he could seize the chance to escape.
“General Ning.”
An Jiuyue rested her chin on her hand, leisurely observing General Ning.
“Didn’t the information passed from the Beikun Kingdom include my identity?” she asked.
Suddenly, as if something dawned on her, her face lit up in understanding. She nodded knowingly at the bewilderment and terror mixed on General Ning’s face.
“Ah, I forgot. Any message passed over would have been sent to the palace. How could it have been delivered directly to a subordinate like you? So, your Emperor Zhong really didn’t send anyone to inform you that I am the High Priest of the Misty Dragon Mountain Demon Heart Hall?”
“What?!”
General Ning, just about to stand up, collapsed back down upon hearing this revelation, wincing in pain.
Even so, he stared at An Jiuyue in utter disbelief, shaking his head repeatedly.
“High Priest Demon Heart? You’re the High Priest Demon Heart? Impossible!”
He had assumed she was simply a regular person from Wulong Mountain—at most, a subordinate from the Demon Heart Hall. Never had he imagined that she might actually be the High Priest herself!
He didn’t want to acknowledge her identity as the High Priest. If this woman really was the High Priest Demon Heart, then it was no wonder the Emperor of Beikun had lost his life so swiftly.
“You’re spouting nonsense! How could you be the High Priest? The status of the High Priest is extraordinary—why would they personally come to the Plant Plane for something as insignificant as the Yiinn Family?!”
He roared at An Jiuyue, as if believing that the louder he yelled, the less likely it would be that this person in front of him was truly the High Priest.
