Ch-2515: You Are Someone Who Can Live in the Sunshine
Chapter 2217: Chapter 2217: It Won’t Change From Saving People to Killing, Right?
On one side, Qian Jiyun was teaching the little baby, while on the other, An Jiuyue had spent a large amount of points to redeem a Qiankun Bag from the Points Mall.
The Qiankun Bag, about palm-sized, was filled with a variety of small snacks right in front of the little baby. Watching this, the little baby drooled uncontrollably, completely ignoring his father’s teachings.
Then, she hung the Qiankun Bag at the little baby’s waist.
“Nuonuo, this is a stash of treats from your mom, but you can’t eat them all at once. You can only have a little bit each day.”
An Jiuyue patted the Qiankun Bag at the little baby’s waist and gestured with her thumb and index finger to show ‘a tiny bit.’ “Otherwise, Mom won’t give you any more treats in the future, and I’ll even confiscate this little bag!”
“No! It’s Nuonuo’s!”
The little baby, upon hearing his mother’s words, immediately shoved the little golden box into his father’s hands. Using both hands, he clutched the Qiankun Bag at his waist tightly.
“Nuonuo will only eat a little bit. Mom, Nuonuo’s! Don’t take it!”
“Alright, it’s Nuonuo’s. Mom won’t take it.”
An Jiuyue raised her hand and pinched the little baby’s chubby cheeks.
“Big Brother, Sister-in-law, we’re back.”
Outside, Yuu Rong and Leng Yikun walked in, their faces full of excitement.
“What’s the matter?”
Qian Jiyun looked at them and asked.
“It’s nothing major.”
Yuu Rong pouted, thinking it wasn’t that big of a deal.
For this Central Imperial Country, no news could be bigger than the revelation that the legitimate son of the royal family wasn’t the biological son of the Emperor.
When Emperor Zhong heard the news they delivered, he spat out a mouthful of old blood and was now furiously cursing the Empress and General Ning, as if his mouth would never run dry.
“It’s just that General Ning really has quite a few loyal subordinates. In such a short time, several groups of people have already gone to rescue him.”
Unfortunately, not one of them had succeeded in rescuing General Ning.
This was something Qian Jiyun and the others had long anticipated. Those people weren’t loyal to General Ning itself; they were simply compelled to act.
“To save their own necks, no one can let the Ning family fall into the hands of the Empress Dowager and the Ninth Prince. If General Ning is rescued, it will likely spell his doom.”
Leng Yikun had thought it through clearly and said it outright.
“Are you saying…”
Yuu Rong raised an eyebrow, having an inkling of an idea.
Could it be that those people sent to rescue General Ning all had some kind of leverage against them held by him?
That wasn’t impossible. Starting from a mere commoner and working his way up to a man whom even the Emperor consulted on national affairs and whose opinions influenced governance—how could he have achieved all this without some tactics?
“If we relax our guard while keeping him in custody, wouldn’t those people shift from attempting rescue to assassination?” he asked.
“That’s definitely a possibility.”
An Jiuyue nodded with a smile, finding the idea quite plausible.
“Yi Kun, make another trip later. Ensure that General Ning doesn’t die too quickly.” She instructed.
The more people drawn into this web, the better it would be for the Central Imperial Country. Those with leverage held by General Ning were likely far from upstanding individuals. Immortal they might be, but they couldn’t be kept indefinitely.
“I understand.”
Leng Yikun responded promptly. Of course, he understood.
Not just him; the Ninth Prince had already stationed people by the city walls. Rescuing General Ning was simply not going to happen.
Though there was one thing he hadn’t considered.
