Lin Yi pushed Yan Ci to the treatment room.
The basic examination equipment was all set up.
But the data from the instruments startled Li Jiamao.
"What’s going on? Her heart rate is so fast, but her systolic pressure is only 78? The blood oxygen values are also off."
"I just felt her pulse and found it very abnormal too," Lin Yi said:
"Let’s do an MRI first and see what’s happening."
"This is the only option now," Li Jiamao said:
"I’ll step aside for a moment, you take off her things."
"Alright."
Because Yan Ci’s body was very weak, she couldn’t handle things herself, so Lin Yi took over the examination work.
He removed all the metal items from her body and placed her on the instruments, and the examination formally began.
But the examination results were not optimistic, and no cause was found.
"This..."
The two of them stared at the computer screen together, pondering over the examination results.
"Principal Lin, we’re all friends here, so I’ll say it directly," Li Jiamao said:
"With my many years of experience, I can’t provide a specific answer, but I suspect it might be a problem with the body’s immune function, and it’s possibly widespread; otherwise, the symptoms wouldn’t be so strange.
Lin Yi said nothing. After seeing the examination results, he had the same guess, just hadn’t voiced it.
"I’ll arrange for her to be hospitalized, and when Director Mao from the allergy department arrives, we’ll have a consultation to see what’s going on."
"But the issue is, she showed no problems before, and her physical exams were regular. Suddenly something went wrong last night."
"If that’s the case, then it’s good news," Li Jiamao said:
"Maybe it came quickly and will go quickly too. I’ll first arrange a ward for her and deal with other matters later."
"Thanks, Brother Li."
"What’s with the politeness, we’re friends."
Shortly afterwards, Li Jiamao arranged a hospital ward for Yan Ci, and Lin Yi stayed with her the whole time.
But Yan Ci’s mood was very low; she kept wiping her tears quietly.
Due to Lin Yi’s position, each department gathered outside the ward for consultations, looking for Lin Yi proactively. Even the director came personally.
However, an entire afternoon passed without any conclusions being reached.
Lin Yi also couldn’t help feeling conflicted.
Before the diagnosis results came out, all he could do was to stay with her.
"Have the results come out? Is it serious? Don’t hide it from me."
Yan Ci weakly asked, leaning back in bed.
"Serious? As long as I’m here, nothing will happen," Lin Yi comforted:
"Don’t worry about those useless thoughts; just take this as a holiday for yourself and rest well."
"Okay..." Yan Ci replied vaguely:
"I’m a bit hungry. Can you get me something to eat?"
"Hungry?"
Lin Yi’s eyes brightened.
Based on experience, when a patient wants to eat, it’s an extremely good sign.
Instinctively, Lin Yi felt Yan Ci’s pulse and found it had improved significantly since the morning.
Even though it was a bit irregular, it was getting close to a normal person’s pulse.
Then Lin Yi took out his phone and ordered some food for Yan Ci, saying:
"Try moving around and see if it feels better."
"Hmm?"
Hearing Lin Yi’s words, Yan Ci paused.
She tried moving her arms and legs around in bed, "It’s not as uncomfortable now, but I feel weak all over."
"You’re just hungry. Eat something in a bit and see how it feels."
"Okay."
About half an hour later, the food Lin Yi ordered arrived, but Yan Ci didn’t finish it.
"I suddenly feel a lot better."
Lin Yi again placed his hand on her pulse and found that the chaotic pulse was even clearer than before.
"Come, let’s get up and move around," Lin Yi said, "I feel like you’re almost fine."
Yan Ci’s face was also filled with confusion.
"I feel a lot better too."
When she spoke, Yan Ci obediently got out of bed, and with Lin Yi’s support, took a walk down the hallway.
Except for a slow pace, everything else seemed normal.
"How do you feel now?" Lin Yi tentatively asked.
"I feel like there’s nothing wrong anymore."
"Hold on, I’ll arrange another check for you."
In the next hour or so, Lin Yi arranged another thorough examination for Yan Ci.
The results surprised everyone.
Because many of the indicators had returned to normal, there was a stark contrast from when she was brought in.
"What’s happening? This is so miraculous," Li Jiamao marveled.
"Director Li, could it be the human body’s stress response?" the CT room director said.
"Stress responses require external stimulus. The patient hadn’t eaten and hadn’t encountered anything unusual for the ten hours prior to the onset, so the chances of a stress response are slim," Li Jiamao said:
"Besides, even if it was an immune function stress response, it couldn’t be this intense; if brought a few hours later, it might have been serious."
"Could it be the medication was effective?" Yan Ci tentatively asked.
"The medication used was very basic, so it shouldn’t be due to the drugs," Li Jiamao said:
"As of now, we can only say the stress response has ended, but I can’t guarantee whether it’ll happen again in the future, so you must be cautious."
"Thank you, doctor."
After discussing the illness, Lin Yi and Yan Ci didn’t stay at the hospital; they drove home.
Once home, Lin Yi prepared some food for Yan Ci.
The latter had completely recovered, showing no signs of discomfort.
"Do you think I am really alright, or is it just temporary?" Yan Ci asked worriedly during the meal.
"I believe you’re fine now. Your situation doesn’t align with medical common sense, so it likely won’t happen again," Lin Yi said:
"However, we have to figure out the cause; such things cannot happen without reason."
Then, Lin Yi looked at Yan Ci and asked:
"Tell me, what did you do from yesterday daytime to when you fell ill? Where did you go?"
Yan Ci pondered quietly and said:
"Just went to work as usual. Met an investor and a director for lunch at your hotel, then stayed in the office busy with work. Watched your video, and then went to find you after work."
After hearing Yan Ci’s account, Lin Yi didn’t spot anything unusual.
Still couldn’t figure out where the problem lay.
"Take a break for a few days. Consider it as a vacation for yourself. If this happens again, call me immediately, don’t endure it."
"Got it."
Yan Ci gently held Lin Yi’s hand, "At that time, I thought I might never see you again."
