Ch-2921: Treatment Plan
"You scumbag, I’m going to expose you, huh."
"Be grateful you have noodles to eat, what more do you want?"
Yan Ci didn’t say anything else, took off her flats, put on black high heels, and went to the noodle shop with Lin Yi.
The moment Yan Ci appeared, the diners who were eating stopped and stared at her. A woman with such a figure and demeanor could only be seen on TV; they didn’t expect to see one in person today.
Lin Yi ordered one large and one small bowl of noodles, along with two small side dishes; both of them ate happily.
Ring ring ring—
During the meal, Lin Yi’s phone rang. It was a call from Qin Han.
"The person you asked me to find has been found. When are you free to meet?"
"Nine o’clock tomorrow morning. You pick the place, then I’ll come find you guys."
"Okay." Qin Han said:
"What are you up to? Free tonight for a drink?"
"Having a meal with a girl, got no time for you guys. Go have fun on your own."
Ignoring Qin Han, Lin Yi hung up the phone.
Yan Ci didn’t ask much about the phone call. If it was really about her, he would say so himself; no need to inquire further.
Yan Ci didn’t eat much, only half, and gave the rest to Lin Yi.
After eating, Yan Ci drove off on her own, while Lin Yi headed towards the hospital to see what was going on.
But just as he reached the hospital entrance, he heard the sound of an ambulance, which quickly stopped at the hospital door.
The medical staff were quick and deft, lifting the patient out of the car.
Lin Yi glanced over; the patient was a man in his seventies, wearing an oxygen mask, but even that seemed limited in effect; his face was pale, almost half-unconscious, as if he was on the brink of death.
Yet, to Lin Yi, it seemed like they made it just in time. The symptoms weren’t as severe as imagined. At the level three hospital’s ability, this might be tricky, but if it were Li Chuhan, she could save him in minutes.
Meanwhile, Wang Chen and other medical staff rushed out from inside the hospital.
"What’s the patient’s condition? Have any previous tests been done?"
Wang Chen asked the family members.
"My dad had fainting episodes before. These are the reports and tests we had done. The doctor prescribed some medicine and told us to observe and return for examination any time, but just now, things suddenly went wrong."
Wang Chen took the reports handed over by the family, and other doctors gathered around.
"Narrowed heart vessels, plus an external aneurysm, and level three heart failure, the situation is quite severe."
"This requires immediate surgery," Sun Yong, standing nearby, said:
"First, go pay 100,000 yuan."
"100,000?!"
The family was taken aback at the number.
For ordinary people, this is no small amount.
"The patient’s condition is very serious, we need to remove the aneurysm, which is a highly difficult surgery, and 100,000 is only the surgery fee."
Sun Yong said:
"Including subsequent hospitalization and treatment, it’ll be at least 150,000. You need to prepare quickly, or the patient’s condition will continue to worsen."
Hearing this, the patient’s family turned pale.
"Alright, alright, we’ll arrange for hospitalization and prepare the money now."
Wang Chen remained silent, but kept examining the reports thoughtfully, as if she had other ideas.
"It’s not that severe," Lin Yi said casually:
"His symptoms are due to the aneurysm pressing on his blood vessels; normally it’s not a big issue. But his heart vessels are narrow, and there’s a blockage, hence these symptoms appeared. At his age, even if you remove the aneurysm, making it off the operating table is an issue."
Lin Yi’s words instantly grabbed everyone’s attention.
No one expected a firefighter to be able to see such things.
Especially Wang Chen, whose eyes showed disbelief.
Because her treatment plan was similar to Lin Yi’s, she just wasn’t sure whether doing so would incur other risks.
And Lin Yi boldly laid out his thoughts, and confidently, which she found hard to believe.
"What nonsense are you talking about? A firefighter guiding our work? Can you even understand the films and reports?" Sun Yong questioned.
Lin Yi shrugged indifferently, "Do as you like, I won’t bear the consequences anyway."
"I tell you, this is a hospital, not your..."
"Alright, stop it," Wang Chen interrupted Sun Yong, saying:
"Let’s take the patient for tests now."
"Understood, Sis Wang."
The patient was pushed in by the nurse, while Wang Chen approached Lin Yi, tentatively asking:
"Did you work in a hospital before?"
"I was once the Director of Cardiac Surgery at Huashan Hospital, so I suggest fitting a stent to hold the vessel open; can’t say too much, but in terms of calmly living for another five years, it should be no problem."
"What did you say? You were a Director of Cardiac Surgery at Huashan Hospital?"
Learning about this side of Lin Yi, the medical staff present were all shocked.
The way they looked at Lin Yi changed entirely.
As people working in the medical system, they are familiar with some of the common knowledge within their circle.
Huashan Hospital is the best in the city, and Cardiac Surgery is its flagship department, arguably the best in the nation.
Becoming a director there is no easy feat.
"Even if it’s nonsense, there has to be a limit, right? Do you know what Huashan Hospital’s Cardiac Surgery represents? Only someone at Director Li’s level can become a department director, who do you think you are?"
"Then treat according to your plan," Lin Yi said indifferently:
"If things go wrong, it has nothing to do with me."
With that, Lin Yi turned and left, planning to check out the commotion at the event room.
Yet Wang Chen’s gaze never left him.
She felt that someone who could propose such a treatment plan must be extraordinary; you couldn’t achieve that without certain expertise.
"Wang Chen, this surgery is quite difficult. Assist me, and it should be fine if we do it together," Sun Yong said.
"I think the aneurysm removal plan is too risky; even if the surgery succeeds, the patient may not walk out alive, as he said. It’s best to take a conservative approach."
"What? You really intend to believe him?" Sun Yong said:
"For such a severe condition, a stent alone is definitely not enough. You can’t trust that fraud!"
"Whether he’s a fraud, you can verify with a call," Wang Chen said:
"And even without his input, I was planning to adopt this treatment option."
