“Stop!” Lu Yin shouted, killing intent blazed in his eyes.
Yue Ya frowned as he met Lu Yin’s gaze. “That’s a good look. Remember this feeling. It’s important to not be too emotional. Their deaths will allow us to deal with Mo Shang and will also serve to temper your will, removing your attachments. Only then will you be able to climb higher and farther. Once you truly understand the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, you will thank me.”
The man then glanced at Boundless. “So, there’s yet another true expert. How can I leave him uncontrolled? Mo Shang will die today, so let these people be buried with him.
“Lu Yin, you should be thanking me.”
The Voidheart Mirror continued to drop down. It was like the universe itself was collapsing as the dark-gold light swept towards the Origin Progenitor.
Lu Yin’s expression was terrifying to see.
The Origin Progenitor’s voice reached his ear. “This is manifested thought, but I’ve never seen one so powerful before. I’ll try to restrain our people. That must be Yue Ya, the one who slaughtered the family of Lesser Sancte Ru.
“To counter manifested thought, you can either endure it with pure willpower or attack in some manner that your opponent doesn’t understand.”
Staring at Yue Ya, Lu Yin released the full power of his consciousness in a thunderous surge. The universe shook hard enough to cause the megaverse to quake. His consciousness spread across the universe like an enveloping sky that pushed the dark-gold canopy up.
Everyone was stunned by the sight. Yue Ya, the High Seraph, and even the Origin Progenitor were all shaken.
Emperor Slayer was dumbfounded. What the...? He’s overturning reality! I’ve never seen such a terrifying consciousness before.
The Origin Progenitor had already known that Lu Yin’s consciousness had greatly improved recently, but he had not been aware that Lu Yin had devoured Wu Wei. The combination of the Luminary’s consciousness and that of all the other conscients that Lu Yin had devoured in recent months meant that his consciousness far surpassed anyone else’s, including even Old Chief’s. There was no doubt that Lu Yin possessed the strongest consciousness in all the three megaverses.
All of that terrifying consciousness was being fully unleashed at this moment.
The High Seraph’s eyes glittered. So I guessed right. He really can consume consciousness.
There was no other explanation for how Lu Yin’s consciousness had improved so quickly.
Even Yue Ya was astonished. He stared as his Voidheart Mirror was raised up by nothing but consciousness. While initially amazed, excitement blossomed and grew in his eyes. This is far stronger than I had imagined! Wonderful! I must seize this man! Taking him means taking the position of Greater Sancte!
“Yue Ya, withdraw your Voidheart Mirror, or don’t blame me for lashing out,” Lu Yin warned.
Forcing down his excitement, Yue Ya met Lu Yin’s gaze. “I’m helping you. Useless emotions will only hold you back. Without these people, you can roam free, and no one will be able to touch you. Right now, they are your weakness.”
Bloodlust overflowed from Lu Yin’s eyes. “Enough! This is your last warning—withdraw your Voidheart Mirror.”
Yue Ya stared intently at the young man. “Very well, I’ll remove it.”
The dark-gold light peeled away from Boundless’s experts one thread at a time before drifting upwards.
Lu Yin glanced over and let a sigh of relief slip out.
“Be careful!” the High Seraph shouted. The blazing light of his Everlasting Will instantly shot out. Lu Yin turned and saw a dark-gold curtain spread out before him, radiating from Yue Ya and positioned to envelop him.
However, the curtain was pierced straight through by Everlasting Will.
Yue Ya had not expected the High Seraph to spoil his surprise attack. Theoretically, it should have been impossible, but it appeared that the High Seraph’s attack was able to ignore time entirely.
Even more surprising to Yue Ya was the fact that Lu Yin had anticipated everything.
He had purposely turned his head, both to invite Yue Ya’s attack and to give the High Seraph the chance to intervene.
The High Seraph would never allow Lu Yin to fall, and so his intervention was guaranteed.
The mastery of the power of time that the High Seraph had demonstrated when climbing the cliff in the Willbound Spire ensured that the man could attack however he pleased.
Events unfolded precisely as Lu Yin had expected. He quickly flicked out a spiral of karma, attacking Yue Ya while the High Seraph’s Everlasting Will was still striking the dark-gold curtain.
It was always difficult for Lu Yin to strike a true expert with a spiral of karma. While the power of karma was invisible to even Dukkhans, all true powerhouses could sense the power and evade it. Those at the level of the High Seraph were even capable of briefly resisting the power of karma, and Yue Ya was no exception.
It was only when an opening appeared that Lu Yin could strike with karma.
He had used himself as bait to create such an opening.
Everlasting Will stabbed through the dark-gold curtain while Yue Ya himself was struck by a spiral of karma.
Even if nothing had been planned with the High Seraph, Lu Yin had still accounted for their coordination and set things up.
Yue Ya was still stunned by the High Seraph’s sudden interference when he was struck by the spiral of karma. Terror appeared on the man’s face; just what had struck him?
Lu Yin’s eyes were locked onto Yue Ya, who was wondering why the man was staring at him. The spiral of karma allowed Lu Yin to witness multiple scenes of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, though nothing provided him with any answers.
The spirals of karma did not read memories, and neither was karma omnipotent. While Yue Ya had been struck, that success did not guarantee that Lu Yin would receive any answers.
Still, it was the best that he could do.
It was difficult enough to land an attack on a peak expert like Yue Ya. All that could be said was that Yue Ya had been unlucky.
He was startled beyond all compare at that moment. “The power... of karma?”
So far, only a handful of individuals, such as the High Seraph and Yong Heng, were aware that Lu Yin wielded the power of karma. Even experts in the Spirit Nidus like Old Yu had merely sensed that Lu Yin controlled a power that they could not see. While they might have some suspicions, they had no proof.
At this moment, Lu Yin’s power of karma had been fully exposed to Yue Ya.
Lu Yin no longer cared about keeping such things hidden. The people who had been on top of the cliff in the Willbound Spire were all from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and they had already seen Lu Yin controlling the power of karma. It was bound to be reported, so Yue Ya’s knowledge changed nothing.
The man stared at Lu Yin in disbelief. “You actually control the power of karma as well?”
Lu Yin glanced into the distance. The dark-gold aura had disappeared from Boundless’s experts, indicating that they were no longer being controlled.
At this moment, they were all warily eying Yue Ya.
Even if none of them feared death in battle, Yue Ya had silently taken control of all of them. It was a truly terrifying ability.
Boundless’s experts were terrified of Yue Ya’s manifested thought.
As for Yue Ya, he was even more shocked to learn that Lu Yin controlled karma.
Karma was not an unfamiliar power for the people of the Nine Odysseys, as Greater Sancte Green Lotus also controlled that power.
In the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, someone who wielded the power of karma would stand above all others. It was possible that only the three Greater Sancti could restrain such a person.
Yue Ya had never imagined that Lu Yin had comprehended such an absurd power.
He was no longer able to suppress his excitement or the indescribable greed that filled him.
As Yue Ya stared at Lu Yin with greedy eyes, he swore that the young man would become his. If Yue Ya could capture Lu Yin, then he would not only obtain the power he expected, but also the power of karma. It was all destined to be his!
There was no hiding the desire that filled Yue Ya’s eyes, and his gaze left Lu Yin feeling very uneasy. He was being seen as nothing more than some mere object.
“I can allow your people to go free, but Mo Shang must die. Join me, and you will be the ruler of the three megaverses!” Without even waiting for Lu Yin’s reply, Yue Ya lunged at the High Seraph, a massive hand falling while the dark-gold curtain separated into strings of beads that rained down.
“Mo Shang, you’re done for!”
The High Seraph frowned. He could sense that something was amiss, but he could not put his finger on it.
As the hand dropped down, the High Seraph instinctively dodged and retaliated, while also preparing himself to be momentarily frozen by the power of manifested thought.
The dark-gold curtain continued to form strings of beads that passed through Lu Yin’s consciousness.
To Lu Yin’s surprise, he was not able to stop the strings of beads.
He had succeeded in holding up Voidheart itself, yet the strings of beads remained beyond his ability to stop.
It was like seeing both large and small beads fall onto a jade tray, but the tray was the universe. As more and more strings of beads appeared, Lu Yin grew increasingly nervous. He retreated to Boundless and shouted, “Fall back!”
The battleship fled.
Yue Ya did nothing to stop the vessel, allowing Boundless to leave as he continued fighting as though he was staking his life on the battle.
Such bizarre behavior confused the High Seraph, but when he saw Boundless leaving, he decided to do the same.
Mo Shang pointed a finger, attacking a distant location with Everlasting Will before vanishing with his attack.
Yue Ya remained in place, ignoring the High Seraph as he escaped. Instead, Yue Ya turned to look at the receding form of Boundless. The man inhaled deeply, and then his body tore open. A mist of blood billowed out, and as faint cracks covered his body, it completely shattered.
A dark-gold cloud emerged from the ruins of Yue Ya’s body. This was his true form, a tangible entity of pure manifested thought.
The dark-gold cloud drifted across the universe, chasing after Boundless.
The dark-gold light spread across the Consciousness Megaverse, stretching further and further.
No matter how far Boundless fled, the dark-gold light might as well have been the battleship’s shadow.
Lu Yin grew increasingly uneasy, and he shouted, “Move into a parallel universe!”
The Origin Progenitor instantly reacted, but as soon as they tore apart the void to enter a parallel universe, the dark-gold cloud of manifested thought passed through the tear ahead of Boundless, forcing Lu Yin to tear the void open again.
Every time the void was torn open, the same thing occurred: the dark-gold cloud would fill the tear and then relentlessly continue to pursue Boundless.
The cloud continued spreading.
The Origin Progenitor exclaimed, “Such formidable manifested thought! If someone claimed it to be at the Immortal level, I’d believe them. How can such power belong to a mere Lesser Sancte?”𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
“Without this much power, he couldn’t have controlled multiple Dukkhas,” Lu Yin grimly retorted. “If he wants to spread out, then I’ll do the same.”
With that, Lu Yin fully released his consciousness and unleashed it in every direction. Wherever the manifested thought spread, Lu Yin’s consciousness went as well.
Let’s envelop the entire megaverse with our clash! We’ll see who will break first!
Far away, the High Seraph stopped fleeing, and he glanced upward. He could see that both manifested thought and consciousness were spreading out. Yue Ya had not abandoned Mo Shang because he had fled, but rather because Yue Ya’s true target had always been Lu Yin, not the High Seraph.
Lu Yin could not die, and he absolutely could not be allowed to help Yue Ya achieve his goal.
Everyone could see the greed in Yue Ya’s eyes when he had looked at Lu Yin.
That thought caused the High Seraph to turn back and start moving towards Boundless.
He simply had to follow the spreading consciousness. By releasing his consciousness, Lu Yin had announced his location to everyone in the Consciousness Megaverse.
No matter what Yue Ya desired, the High Seraph would not allow him to succeed.
There had been a four-way balance within the Willbound Spire. Yue Ya had been added to the mix, but the contest still continued.
The dark-gold cloud drifted after Boundless. Yue Ya observed the expanding consciousness above him. He was ignorant of the fact that the High Seraph intended to protect Lu Yin, and he was also unaware of the earlier four-way balance that had existed within the Willbound Spire. Yue Ya believed that he had just driven off the High Seraph and was chasing after Boundless with his manifested thought, ready to strike at Lu Yin.
He could not wait, not another second. This was his path to Immortality, the most powerful path available to him.
No one could stop him.
Even if the High Seraph intervened, he could not block Yue Ya’s manifested thought.
Yue Ya was determined to seize Lu Yin.
Soon, he had a clear view of Boundless. You want to escape into a parallel universe? Impossible.
