Chapter 6325: A Friend In Need
“He should be a present-era junior. He said his name is Wu Ming (Nameless), but it should be a fake name,” Zhao Tingxue replied.
“Wu Ming? That’s quite the name, no matter whether it’s fake or not,” Eighth Zhao remarked.
“He has a cultivator friend. The friend is weaker than him, but he’s still a formidable individual. Zhao Cangjing barely scraped a victory against him,” Zhao Tingxue said.
“Oh? What’s his name?” Eighth Zhao asked.𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
“It’s a stutterer named Wu De (Virtueless),” Zhao Tingxue replied.
“Wu De? Doesn’t sound like the name of an upright person. Birds of the same feather flock together—since they are friends, they should be the same type of people. They have character, but their personality requires verification,” Eighth Zhao commented with a smile.
Zhao Zhuyin and the others chuckled. They could tell that Eighth Zhao was joking.
It was Zhao Tingxue and the others’ problem that they were so restrained in front of Eighth Zhao. Zhao Zhuyin had never been restrained before Eighth Zhao; if anything, she spoke her mind and did whatever she wanted.
An elder’s voice suddenly echoed outside, “Lord Clan Chief, we have found them.”
“Let’s go.” Eighth Zhao put down his chopsticks and led the group out.
A vast expanse of mountain peaks appeared before their eyes.
Eighth Zhao reached into his Cosmos Sack and took out a scroll. He unfurled the scroll. Depicted on it were nineteen mountain peaks, with one in the center and the remaining eighteen surrounding it as if guarding it.
Despite the countless mountain peaks around him, he could still spot scenery identical to that in the scroll. That was what they were looking for.
“Construct the formation!” Eighth Zhao ordered.
The Zhao Immortal Clan’s elders, who were on standby, made a move. They began working on the eighteen surrounding peaks, but they avoided the center peak.
Eighth Zhao and the others, however, had their eyes set on the center peak. That peak was their goal.
“Father, is that the mountain you have picked out for me?” Zhao Zhuyin asked.
“Indeed. Do you like it, Zhuyin?” Eighth Zhao asked.
“Isn’t that the second hardest peak? I want to challenge the hardest one,” Zhao Zhuyin said.
“My good daughter, our clan records state that only three people have ever cleared the hardest peak in the Ancient Era.”
“I know. It’s the Three Zenith Emperors who pushed the Ancient Era to its peak. Father, do you think that I’m not on par with the Three Zenith Emperors?”
“No, I believe that my daughter can surpass the Three Zenith Emperors.”
But Zhao Zhuyin laughed at those words. “You’re the only one who thinks so. I don’t think I have it in me. I have that much self-awareness. I’m not even confident of clearing this second-hardest peak. Father, are you sure we should challenge this one?”
“My good daughter, the Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain doesn’t have much energy left. You won’t be able to metamorphose your bloodline if you can’t clear the second-hardest peak.
“Our ancestors bought the Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain from the World Spiritist Emperor at an exorbitant price so that when an unprecedented prodigy appears in our clan, we can stake our all on them. I have decided to stake the Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain on you. If you fail, I won’t be able to face our Zhao Clan’s ancestors in the netherworld. I’ll be eternally pinned to a pillar of humiliation and be spat at by our descendants till the end of time.”
Zhao Zhuyin quickly raised her hand to interject, “Fine, I’ll activate this one. I’ll do my best, but I can’t guarantee success.”
“That’s good enough.” Eighth Zhao nodded.
But he turned around to look at Zhao Daobin right after, and the latter caught his drift and took his leave.
The other warships departed as well, leaving just the warship that Eighth Zhao and the others were riding on. But not a single person on the warship was worried.
Putting aside the fact that those constructing formations on the surrounding eighteen peaks were the Zhao Immortal Clan’s top-notch experts, just Eighth Zhao alone was enough to let them rest at ease.
“Will it take long?” Zhao Zhuyin asked.
“It’ll take some time. There’s no rush. We have plenty of time anyway,” Eighth Zhao said.
...
Meanwhile, Chu Feng and the others were still searching for four hardest mountain peaks. Instead of traveling straight, they moved in a zig-zag to not miss any corners.
In the meantime, the crowd had already realized that there were formations on the mountain peaks, and the key to obtaining the Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain’s energy was to activate the formations.
Naturally, many people tried it, but most ended in failure because they didn’t know that activating the formations required resources. Those who failed were transported out of the Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain.
Several people were gathered in front of where Chu Feng and the others were traveling, and there appeared to be a conflict.
Coincidentally, one of the people involved in the conflict was Chu Feng’s friend—the Heavenly Dome Immortal Sect’s most talented prodigy, Qin Xuan.
But Qin Xuan showed none of his usual flair. He was lying on the ground in pain, with blood seeping from the corner of his lips. He clenched his jaws in anger as he tried to get back to his feet, but the foot on his head kept him firmly down.
The master of the foot was a short, hunched old man dressed in a daoist robe. He was accompanied by several other people dressed in the same daoist robe.
Quite a few spectators were gathered in the area, suggesting that it had been some time since the outbreak of the conflict. All of them recognized Qin Xuan, and some of them recognized the old man as well.
The old man was the Bluehue Monastery’s sectmaster.
Some time ago, someone from the Bluehue Monastery got into a conflict with Qin Xuan, prompting the Bluehue Monastery’s sectmaster to confront Qin Xuan to back his people up. But when the sectmaster realized that he was dealing with the Heavenly Dome Immortal Sect’s Qin Xuan, he was so frightened that he kneeled down and begged for forgiveness.
How could the Bluehue Monastery offend the Heavenly Dome Immortal Sect when it was a mere ant before it?
With such a history behind them, the crowd wasn’t surprised to see the Bluehue Monastery’s sectmaster settling the scores with Qin Xuan now.
But times had changed.
The Heavenly Dome Immortal Sect had been massacred, so Qin Xuan no longer had his backing. On top of that, the Bluehue Monastery’s sectmaster had advanced to rank nine Half-God level many years back.
While Qin Xuan was only at rank eight Half-God level, he had the means to raise his cultivation. Yet, he was unable to rival the Bluehue Monastery’s sectmaster, no matter how they fought.
The answer was soon revealed.
The Bluehue Monastery’s sectmaster had reached True God level. This explained why Qin Xuan couldn’t defeat the sectmaster even though he could raise his cultivation by three ranks.
“Qin Xuan, I heard the Divine Body Heavenly Mansion’s Yuwen Yanri had long reached True God level, so why are you still stuck at Half-God level? Didn’t you enter God’s Era too? I don’t think you are deserving of your reputation as a prodigy. Without the Heavenly Dome Immortal Sect, you are nothing at all!” the Bluehue Monastery’s sectmaster sneered.
The crowd coldly watched the scene. They found it cathartic to watch someone in a high position being dragged down from their high horses, not to mention that there was no reason for them to help Qin Xuan.
But Chu Feng and the others just so happened to witness this scene.
