Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4551: Hex-vexed?
Fairy Thunderblaze looked at Evelynn, not knowing what to say to someone who was too far in their delusions, other than to kill them.
Evelynn’s lips curled as though she had won this round.
“You made the right choice. Even if you defeat me in the end, you will not escape unscathed. The rest of your life will be miserable, unable to get rid of annihilative heavenly poison. It had even killed Nether Devils…”
“You fought Nether… Devils…?”
“Second sister needed something important for her cultivation, so we dived a bit deeper into their territory in the Nether Dimension. It was… fun… just watching them suffocate on their own fluids and die.”
“Ohhh- you told me a bit about that. I want to hear more!” Isabella demanded excitedly.
But inside, she was also shocked at the annihilative aura Evelynn displayed. It was absolutely dreadful.
The annihilative lighting, wind, and fire Davis used were punishments, but this- annihilative heavenly poison seemed like a death sentence in the cruelest way possible.
She couldn’t help but wonder if her new body could withstand this poison.
“…”
On the other hand, Fairy Thunderblaze’s heart shook, confirming that this Evelynn was no longer the naive Evelynn she saved and delivered back then.
She didn’t know how many Nether Devils she had poisoned to death, but her gaze no longer seemed to be wavering, not knowing what to do when met with a problem or thrown somewhere into the world like before.
“Big sister, Zenova, there’s no need to be so formal. Let’s just take it easy. Zenova won’t harm us, I guarantee it.”
Isabella intervened. She patted her bosoms.
“That’s greedy of you, Isabella.”
Fairy Thunderblaze wryly smiled, “Besides. I advised you to trust no one but your husband. One day or another, years later perhaps, you could be poisoned to death by one of your own, particularly those whom you call sisters, and the poison used might not be even as sinister as hers.”
She pointed at Evelynn with a wry smile.
Evelynn frowned, but as she heard the end, she nodded.
“Your distrust is unfounded, but I can understand. I also had a mind that was exceptionally scared, imagining all sorts of mishappenings as I marry the Crown Prince of the Loret Empire as a weak and statusless woman. I was a mere Young Mistress from a noble house that had gotten lucky by following the lead of the Loret Empire. I was destined to be married into it, so my fears were much more pronounced. There wasn’t a week I didn’t imagine where I would be brutally or secretly killed by one of his concubines for no reason other than the fact that I was the first to marry him. I didn’t dream of becoming his Empress. I still don’t. I just wished to stay in a corner, offending no one and living my life as one of his concubines.”
Evelynn uttered in a wry voice, her tone full of reminiscence.
“But he appeared, seeking me like a child going after their most precious toy and proclaiming it’s theirs for an eternity. I was forced to see him, not the Crown Prince. I was more than happy to fulfill his wishes, but this time around, I no longer wished to be in a mere corner. I wanted to be by his side, so those fears only grew more. But never did I imagine that he would one day advise me to train in Poison Laws, which I turned out to be the most proficient in. It turns out that I was in the position to poison others and not the other way around. But I was still the same gentle woman as before, so my fears stayed.”
“Then came Natalya, the woman who gave me my first wake-up slap, causing me to feel endangered. Then it was Isabella, the one who sought my position first. Then came Shirley, the one who was supposed to have been the Empress since she was also betrothed to him and possessed a much better status than mine initially. Each of them had many reasons to take me out, yet none of them made a move. Instead, they all called me ‘big sister’, slowly melting my heart.”
“Gone are the days when schemes were commonplace. It was vastly different since the Cauldon Family was full of opportunists, even planning to use my marriage to Davis as a stepping stone to improving their legacies.”
“What do you want to say?” Fairy Thunderblaze uttered.
She had found herself listening to Evelynn’s seductive voice for some time before coming out of her reverie.
“Here, in the Davis Family, my family, I’m respected and even revered. My life has been far more fruitful than it will ever be. It is not only my experience but all of our collective experience, so unless there is someone like you who enters and disrupts our harmony, I’m convinced nothing will happen.”
“…”
As she walked out, she imagined it was because she was vexed by losing for the third time.
However, she clenched her fists, not knowing why she felt so irritated.
Unable to do anything, she simply left.
First, it was Isabella. Second, it was Davis, and for the third, it was Evelynn who defeated her.
Her pride was in shatters, so she imagined she wasn’t feeling good listening to some drivel.
========
In a room, a white-blue robed woman sat. She wore the insignia of the Mistwalker Family.
She was seated on a couch, but as soon as the door opened, she stood up angrily.
“Release me, Divine Emperor of Death. I will not tolerate any wrongdoing committed against me using your otherworldly powers. You’re a cheat, an anomaly, and a sinister being who corrupted my brother!”
Davis blinked after he watched this woman turn hysterical. It seems like her mood has gone down for nearly an hour after being captured and not provided with any explanation.
“Lyra Mistwalker,” Davis opened his mouth.
“Right now, you’re only on house arrest instead of being treated roughly as the rest of the Mistwalkers, so be thankful to us and grateful to your elder brother.”
Lyra Mistwalker’s expression fell, “Is he- is…”
“He’s having it great. Maybe you could join too and enhance our family’s growth with your Immaculate Alchemy Laws.”
“…”
